Regular immigrant and/or emigrant from Corfu. May also breed but is usually not present all the year around.
Found outside its normal range, such as outside its known habitat. Not enough records to confirm as a Resident or a Migrant.
A species that is expanding its range, but is not self-sustaining, and is reliant on migrants to sustain its population. This is the stage before a species becomes a resident, or a species which is right on the edge of its known distribution.
Records that have not been substantiated and therefore the existence of such a species on Corfu is uncertain.

Data Deficient (DD)
A taxon is Data Deficient when there is inadequate information to make a direct, or indirect, assessment of its risk of extinction based on its distribution and/or population status. Listing of taxa in this category indicates that more information is required and acknowledges the possibility that future research will show that threatened classification is appropriate.
Least Concern (LC)
A taxon is Least Concern when it has been evaluated against the criteria and does not qualify for Critically Endangered, Endangered, Vulnerable or Near Threatened. Widespread and abundant taxa are included in this category.
Near Threatened (NT)
A taxon is Near Threatened when it has been evaluated against the criteria but does not qualify for Critically Endangered, Endangered or Vulnerable now, but is close to qualifying for or is likely to qualify for a threatened category in the near future.

A taxon is presumed Extinct in the Wild when exhaustive surveys in known and/or expected habitat, at appropriate times (diurnal, seasonal, annual), throughout its historic range have failed to record an individual. Surveys should be over a time frame appropriate to the taxon’s life cycle and life form.

A medium sized orangey-red butterfly. The upperside is orangey-red with large black and yellow bars along the costa (leading edge of the wing), and a series of blue spots submarginal spots. The hindwing has a large dark basal patch The underside of the forewing is a dull whitish-yellow with dark spots and border. The hindwing is very dark with a pale submarginal band. Male and female are similar. It could be confused with Nymphalis polychloros, which is larger, with a less contrasting underside, and the upperside is orangey-brown, without obvious blue submarginal spots. The hindwing is without the large dark patch

Nettle Urtica dioica, Hop Humulus lupulus.
Only the one sighting of this species has been made by CBC member David Cook. David recorded the butterfly on Mt Pantokrator 31 May 2019. Presumably a hill topping migrant.
